Have you owned a Persian carpet or have a heavily carpeted home? Then you must know how important it is to clean this thing. Here I have some carpeting tips to help you in your dire time of need:

Regular vacuum cleaning of yourcarpets is the first thing essential to have your carpet clean. Try at least once a week to vacuum clean all your carpets. This will prevent the buildup of dust, grit and other residues that cause damage to the fibers of your carpets and rugs.
Try to run your cleaner over the frequently used carpet areas even more, every few days if possible. This is especially important for areas where children play or your pets hop.
You can apply soil retardants as the next try. Soil retardant is a chemical finish that helps the fibers of your carpet resist dirt, liquids and other substances that can seep into and contaminate your carpets. This treatment makes the upkeep of your carpets much easier.

Another way of cleaning is using detergent. Keep that in your mind that detergent attracts dirt. This is why it's important to rinse out any cleaning solution thoroughly. This is another reason why hot water extraction gets carpet cleaner than the "dry" methods. The bottom line is that you need to rinse well when you clean carpet.

Are you while reading this article? Ok, here is something new for you now. In order to get carpets completely cleaned, vacuum-cleaning and spot cleaning won't cut it. One method to get all the stains out is to bonnet clean, also called absorbent mat cleaning. It is the same as spot cleaning, but on a bigger scale. Applying this method, a big pad is put down over the whole room's carpet and the dirt and grime is assimilated up into the pad. This isn't the best way to completely clean, but it a well known and easy method. There's no rinsing of the carpet and for that reason is not as thorough as another procedures.

We often have a wet carpet in our house. Here is my last of the carpet cleaning tips for is on how to clean a shag carpet. Those are the carpets resembling the texture of a mop. It's not easy to clean that type which usually ends up disastrous when trying to clean them by yourself. It could often result you to buy a new carpet in the end. If your shag carpet gets wet, it's always best to wait it out till its dry. Don't try to blow dry or vacuum it dry because the strands would tangle together and may get stuck that way. Should the carpet have gum on it, it's time to get the scissors and cut the strands attached to the gum while using hot water. Do not scrubs shag carpets because the bristles may untangle the strands!

You should not feel scared to apply these carpet cleaning tips as they have been proven to work. If you had burned your carpet with an iron just to get it dry, then this is probably the best time we can say... time to get a new carpet!

  1. I agree that detergents are too harsh for regular use. It is good to limit these. A new trend I have been reading is to use Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda to clean. How do you find this method?

Great tips here for homeowners and renters alike! Cheers~cb
